Waertsilae is to supply its 50DF dual-fuel engines and propulsion systems for two LNG carriers being built at Chinese shipyards. Each vessel will be powered by a Waertsilae 50DF engine, driving a CP (controllable pitch) propeller through a gearbox, plus related systems. This is the latest in a string of orders for Waertsilae's dual-fuel technology, which is claimed to offer high efficiency and lower emission levels that that enable compliance with current and anticipated environmental legislation.
