China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) subsidiary Yichang Marine Diesel Engine (YMD) has completed its first Mitsubishi UE low-speed marine diesel engine under a technology licensing arrangement with MHI. YMD, located in Yichang, Hubei Province, is expected to complete three . more UE engines before the end of 2010, with plans calling for progressive expansion of engine production. The first example of a UE design from YMD is a 6UEC43LSII with power output of 6,300 kW at 160 rpm. The unit will be the main engine for a German-owned 32,000 dwt timber/cargo carrier currently under construction in Fujian Province.
