The two 32/40CR engines, installed on the container ships Cornelia Maersk and Clementine Maersk, now have a total operating time of some 7,000 hours while a 48/60B engine with common rail technology has been running on a test bed at MAN B&W's Augsburg works since the beginning of this year. "These tests fully comply with our time schedule, which means that the first 48/60B common rail engines will be put into service next year", says Professor Dr Wolfram Lausch, Senior Vice President of the MAN B&W Diesel Marine Division.
