Through productive dialogue, officers and young community members can build a greater understanding of different cultures, learn from one another, and build trust. This January, the IACP released the Bridging Perspectives: Critical Conversations between Students and Police Youth Toolkit to help facilitate these discussions in a contextual, educational setting. The Bridging Perspectives curriculum was originally offered at American University, George Mason University, and the University of Colorado. Based on continued interest and the desire to include more generations in these conversations, a toolkit was developed to adapt the program for middle and high school-aged students.
