The new Rapid MetroRail Gurgaon mini-metro has started passenger operations on the first 6km-long metro loop line in Gurgaon, south-west of Delhi. The line serves the Gurgaon Cyber City, a business and residential district, and connects to Line 2 of the Delhi Metro Rail system at Sikandarpur station. It has been built on a public-private partnership basis, with government contributing land through a leasehold system and private investors the money (US$178.6million). Siemens supplied all the rail technology, from the trains and the electrification systems, through to the installation of the maintenance workshop and the signalling technology.
