Swindon panel, which is an original BR(WR)'turn push'-type signalling design, is to be preserved at Didcot Railway Centre. The panel represents the standard Great Western design since the 1960s, all of which are due to be decommissioned in the next few years. The Swindon Panel Society has secured the item from Swindon, where it is scheduled to be removed by Network Rail during 2014. It will be reconstructed and refurbished in its 1980s form and located in a new building at Didcot, where members of the society will demonstrate its operation in conjunction with a simulator.
