摘要

The W E C Watkinson Trust-owned 'Black Five' No. 5025 requires new cylinder linings. The problem became apparent during an overhaul of the chassis at Aviemore. The cylinders were rebored on-site by LNWR Heritage Ltd, but hairline cracks have appeared, indicating the existing liners were too thin to remain serviceable following this work. Boiler work is being undertaken by Riley & Son (E) Ltd in Bury, where the front barrel section has been removed and will be replaced by a newly produced section. The outer firebox is also being stripped, with very little of the original expected to be reused.
