Station staff nave saved the lives of 300 people since April, Network Rail reported on November 25. Training given to 5,000 NR employees by the Samaritans has helped them spot tell-tale signs that indicate that somebody might be contemplating killing themselves. "One of these indications is sitting on a platform for long periods and failing to board any of the trains that stop," says Steve Tollerton, one of the Samaritans'trainers. The report does not mention that such behaviour could also apply to rail enthusiasts.
