An internal rework of a Class 321 EMU could pave the way for future refurbishments of the Class 3XX fleets. Eversholt Rail Group, which owns large numbers of Class 313, 315,321,322 and 365 EMUs in England, has conceived this demonstrator - No. 321448 - the last Class 321 to be built. Based on public opinion, the developments could form the basis for future value-for-money upgrades over the next four to five years. Eversholt has also indicated that it intends to upgrade the traction package of the fleet. The refurbishment of No. 321448 has been carried out at Wabtec Doncaster, and has seen two carriages set out in a 'metro' style, with the other two carriages in an inner suburban design. Eversholt returned to the Greater Anglia franchise in early November, and felt that once testing and certification had been completed, the unit could be carrying passengers from early December. The set carries a distinctive silver grey livery with graphic panels.
