The 48624 Locomotive Company Ltd's 8F, completed in LMS maroon carrying number 8624, moved under its own steam for the first time in 44 years on April 25 at Peak Rail's Rowsley South following 28 years of volunteer effort. The loco was tested on the 'back road' at Rowsley, but after the end of the day's regular services it ran on Peak Rail's main line to Matlock, towing 0-6-OST No. WD150 Royal Pioneer.rnWithdrawn in July 1965 and purchased from Barry in 1981, the 8F passed its boiler test on May 7, clearing the way for its public debut hauling Peak Rail trains over May 23-25. With Royal Pioneer in steam, the celebratory weekend featured double heading, top-and-tail operations and demonstration freights.
