Cloth $44.95 - Eugene Webb argues that modernity destabilizes traditional worldviews prompting adverse human outcomes ranging from closed religious fundamentalism to destructive suicide bombers. Religious Thought and Psychological Development Webb explicates (1) a broad range of developmental psychologies following Jean Piaget, (2) sociological accounts, primarily Peter Berger, and (3) theological reflections, predominantly in the tradition of Thomas Aquinas, namely Cardinal Newman and Bernard Lonergan, in an effort to explain, assess and advocate religion's positive role in the human community. According to Girard, we humans mimic "prestigious others" and "imitate their desires in order to model ourselves on them and thus acquire their qualities."
