Robinson, in "Maimonides, Samuel Ibn Tibbon, and the Construction of a Jewish Tradition of Philosophy," shows how the Provençal followers of Maimonides developed a philosophical tradition through making explicit things Maimonides had only alluded to, continuing his projects of commenting on the Bible and on rabbinic literature, and explaining "the reasons for the commandments" (p. 292).
