How does one command, control and conduct counter-piracy operations off the Horn of Africa, covering an area of approximately 1.1 million square miles, especially when no one has ever done so before and while the world is watching with high expectations? And how does one define success in this context? In Pirate Alley, retired US Navy Rear Admiral Terry McKnight tells us about his pioneering experiences. McKnight had a three-decade career in the US military, ending in 2009. He held several senior commands in the US Navy - commanding officer of the USS Kearsarge and commander of the US Navy's Expeditionary Strike Group 2 among them.
