The United Kingdom's contribution to the coalition in Iraq is, in Ministry of Defence terminology, an element of the 'Peace Support Operation' (PSO) or stabilization operation. UK military operations are part of a wider UK effort involving other Government Departments, in what has come to be referred to as the 'Comprehensive Approach', which is, in theory, the integrated approach of the British Government to the situation in Multi-National Division South East (MND(SE)).
