Until recently, the rise of blogs through mainstream culture has been relatively easy for serials librarians to ignore. As blogs garner more media attention and as their roles evolve, that situation could be changing. Certain blogs are starting to influence what is covered by the traditional media. This gives blogs value as a resource to future researchers. With no way to archive blog postings the way newspapers and magazines are routinely archived by vendors, librarians are rapidly moving toward a situation where newspapers and magazines are directing readers to blogs that might not exist in the future. If these blogs are not properly archived, future libraries will be filled with incomplete records of this time in American history.
