The link section over Belgium's Mediacite has been inserted in a roof designed by Ron Arad Architects and engineered by Buro Happold for Belgian developer Wilhelm & Co. It snakes over 'Mediacite'', a 40 000m2 development of retail centre, multiplex, skating rink and the studios of Belgian French-speaking state television. The steel ribbed roof, pictured right, follows the main pedestrian route of the complex, snaking between the two main shopping malls, dipping to almost head height in places and rising up to 20m at the main entrance. Constructed using curved steel box sections the roof widens and narrows along the way to create spectacular interior spaces.
