摘要

The question of how situation awareness is managed in a teamrnremains a challenge for ergonomics. In this paper, a task wasrndesigned in which team members were required to identify arn‘rogue’ vehicle in road traffic. In one version of the task, teamrnmembers see the same information in the same format, and in thernother version, team members each have a different view of thernsituation. Performance was less accurate in the second version ofrnthe task and this was not affected by communication between teamrnmembers. An agent-based model was developed to reflect thernperformance of the teams in the experiment and to allowrnmanipulation of team characteristics. The models showed that thern‘expertise’ of agents affects not only their performance on the taskrnbut also their communication. This suggests that such modellingrncould be a useful line of research for the study of situationrnawareness.
