Operation of thermal power units using renewable heat sources for electricity production is considered. Specific features of these units are studied. A version of a thermal power unit using the heat of water under ice is proposed. The criteria for choosing working fluids for such units that will ensure their efficiency and compactness are discussed. The promise of investigations aimed at searching for and creating working fluids that meet these criteria is noted.
