Problems of ensuring the reliable operation of the stacks of thermal power stations are considered. the results of on-site investigations and an analysis of the operating conditions of a reinforced-concrete stack 250 m high having a vented air clearance are described. A method for enhancing the reliability of operation of the stack at reduced loads by filling the air clearance with a dry heat-insulating mixture is outlined.
