The use of the low-temperature cortex combustion process for converting boilers to burn coal-water slurry(CWS)is substantiated. The technology for burning CWS in the vortex-type furnace of a DKVR6.5/13 oil-fired boiler is developed. The results of pilot tests of the boiler fueled by CWS are presented. The stable operation of the boiler with a combustion efficiency of the fuel of more than 95/100 is demonstrated. A consider- able decrease of harmful emissions into the atmospheric was found.
