When I browse the designer sections in my favorite stores, I am drawn to interesting sleeve details, especially on jackets and coats. A jacket's sleeve hem, in particular, shows the garment's quality and the design's level of detail. A plain, straight sleeve with a standard hem is the simplest and cheapest way to finish a sleeve, while a two-piece vented sleeve adds superior quality, functionality, and distinctive design interest to a jacket. Often, ready-to-wear sleeve vents are nonfunctional. It's usually the most expensive ready-to-wear jackets that have a sleeve vent with functional buttons, and buttonholes.
