Debbie Pennock of Salt Lake City, Utah, is a busy mother, teacher, athlete, and more, but she says that she always makes time to sew. For this project, Debbie wanted to showcase sashiko stitching on an everyday garment. She chose Silhouettes jacket pattern no. 900. Its many sections enabled her to feature the hand stitching in a number of ways. Some of the sashiko is decorative, and some is construction stitching. She made the buttons by sealing stitched fabric in Little Windows resin. Large buttons are displayed on the cuffs, and smaller buttons run down the jacket front. Debbie created hand-sewn buttonholes to complete the closures.
