Few fabrics are more beautiful, fascinating, and versatile than lace; its magic is universal. Unlike other fabrics, lace's selvages often include a decorative border that is intended to edge a garment, and most often, it is scalloped. Generally, when planning a lace garment, the first consideration is where to use the selvage edges in the design. Before you cut the lace, decide how you want to use these borders.
