Welt or "bespoke" pockets are a hallmark of tailored and couture garments, but they tend to intimidate even the most experienced sewers. Commercial garment manufacturers achieve consistent quality using a $25,000 Bespoke Welt Pocket machine—way out of reach for most of us. And, unfortunately, the majority of sewing patterns on the market provide traditional welt-pocket instructions that usually result in distorted openings, uneven welt lips, and visible stitching, all of which scream "homemade."
