Once you've draped the muslin for your slipcover on all the parts of your chair as described in "Slipcovers, Part One," in Threads No. 103, pp. 49-53, you're ready to clean up and true the markings on the muslin pieces so you can make them into accurate patterns. Next, you'll establish how you want any motifs in your chosen fabric to be positioned on your chair, and figure out how many yards of slipcover fabric you'll need. In this installment of our three-part series, I'll walk you through the processes I use for these steps when making slipcovers for my clients, and then show you how I lay out the patterns on the fabric to get the motifs properly positioned. In the final installment, I'll cover construction options for making the cover.
