Mis-picking could be costing your business money. A recent survey of US, UK, French and German supply-chain managers by Intermec, a workflow-performance company, found that mis-picks are losing businesses around $380,000 (c.£230,000) per distribution centre each year. The study found that each mis-pick costs a business an average of $24 (c.£ 15), with more than half of the global companies interviewed reporting pick rate accuracy of less than 97%. Perhaps more worryingly, a further 19% don't measure the cost of mis-picks at all, meaning that the accumulated losses to the supply chain could be even higher.
