When it comes to goofing off, it's a man's world. In an average day, men get nearly an hour more free time than women do, including time spent on exercise (12 more min.) and Web surfing (11 min.). Women read a bit more (6 min.), but they also do more housework (42 min.) and cooking (28 min.). All those activities are dwarfed by the amount of time both sexes spend watching television—from 1 hr. 28 min. for women with young children to 4 hr. 38 min. for child-free men. But when the TV is finally off, we at last find an activity both sexes share: men and women spend nearly the same amount of time just "thinking."
