As the spring 2013 planting season approaches, the demand for flue-cured and burley tobacco is clearly up, but it continues to be a mystery as to whether American tobacco growers will substantially increase their plantings. Some believe that the promise of other, equally profitable crops, combined with the ongoing problems of obtaining affordable and suitable tobacco labor, all suggest reasons why anyone might reconsider growing more tobacco.
