Roger Penn, the head of international flavor-house MANE's tobacco team sat down with Tobacco International to discuss the coming wave of flavor regulations getting ready to hit the industry. There are multiple battles tanking place on multiple fronts. Here's one insider's take on the flashpoints coming down the road. Tobacco International: There have been some big regulation developments throughout North America. What is your take on the future of tobacco regulation for the region? Roger Penn: The last couple of months there's been a lot of activities in terms of the TPSAC [the US Government regulating body's "Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee"] meetings-there have been two types of meetings: one exploring a potential menthol ban and a second one exploring how to go forward on a list of chemicals that are found in all cigarette smoke that they wish to identify and eliminate.
