The secondary tobacco industry has progressed through a number of significant changes over the last decade, and it seems year after year the level of competition is taken up a notch. Manufacturers are forced to continuously review their processes ― globally ― in order to meet the ever-increasing consumer demands of individual markets. Manufacturing, especially in the tobacco industry, is now more than ever a global business. Henry Tuck, head of the global Secondary Technology Unit at FlexLink, has seen first hand the in-tobacco manufacturers. "The industry is very much at a point where few manufacturers can afford to ignore the importance of automating production lines anymore, regardless of location," Tuck says. "Production efficiency, cost efficiency, and quality control have become paramount to the profitability of a manufacturing facility."
