The recession is biting in Scandinavian telecoms markets, pushing TeliaSonera and Telenor into fiercer competition and to make moves to more tightly control costs.rnLast month Telenor announced it will cut 400 of its current 2,400 employee base in Sweden, citing "disappointing sales". At the same time TeliaSonera made a new acquisition in Telenor's home market, paying NOK 100 million (€11 million) for Tele2's Norwegian broadband and VoIP business. Tele2 Norway will add 97,000 broadband subscribers to TeliaSonera's existing Norwegian subsidiary, which operates under the name NextGenTel, increasing its broadband market share from 15% to 22%, according to TeliaSonera.
