摘要

Old and new media giants kicked off the new year by forging deals that could redraw the broadcast and digital entertainment landscape. Key amongst these were the many partnerships involving heavyweights Google, Yahoo and Microsoft, taking advantage of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas last month to declare a realignment of the Internet industry. Google has maintained its momentum with the acquisition of radio advertising firm dMarc Broadcasting in a deal worth up to $1.14 billion (?943 million). The only cloud on the horizon appeared when Yahoo posted fourth quarter results which failed to match analysts' expectations. But the announcement came too late to spoil the bullish mood at CES. In his keynote address, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates told delegates that "2006 is going to be a big year for digital lifestyle."
