摘要

The Prius,the world's first mass-production hybrid car, is equipped with a new drive unit quite unlike anything installed in conventional vehicles. Toyota has combined a number of new technologies in this unit, including a transaxle with integrated electric motors, a dedicated hybrid engine, an electric power steering system, and an inverter for motion control. The company developed new production engineering as it prepared for mass-production of the Prius. To achieve both high performance and low costs in this new field, Toyota has developed such production technologies as a new inserter-type motor coil winding process, machining processes that are common with other engines, improved quality assurance for the electric power steering system, and more durable inverter wire bonding.
