摘要

"Fluid flow analysis" has been used to predict misrun, entrapment of air, etc., by calculating flow pattern and velocity. Besides entrapment of air and shrinkage, inclusions also often cause defects during production preparation. Accordingly, there is a need to predict entrapment of inclusions. It is common practice to regulate the gating system and casting conditions to prevent inclusion defects. Therefore, we have developed a method which calculates the trajectory of markers, taking buoyancy, resistance and gravitation into account, in order to quantitatively analyze the effects of measures taken to prevent inclusion defects. This study assessed the practicality of this method, including analyses of actual parts.
