The Road Safety Audit process has been widely adopted throughout parts of Europe and the developing world. Many other countries now have their own procedures for Road Safety Audit, some more stringently applied than in the UK. Recent changes to the UK Design Standard HD19 - Road Safety Audits - which forms part of the Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, have yet to be fully disseminated and will no doubt result in other countries and organisations reviewing their own procedures, the personnel involved and the prospects for wider application.
