The paper presented the role, functions and activities of the IAEA TWG-FR. In particular, the main Agency's activities in the area of fast reactors and acceleratordriven systems core physics have been presented. Since the early stage of nuclear energy deployment, research and development programmes on fast spectrum systems have been carrying out worldwide; the TWG-FR has regularly followed these new trends organizing technical meetings, promoting R&D cooperation among the interested Member States and, finally, publishing technical documents covering the different aspects of the fast reactor and ADS technology.
