May will mark the end of my first academic year at Oxford Brookes University, studying for the MSc in Historic Conservation alongside my 4-day-a-week role as Assistant Secretary. Eight months ago, I thought I knew a bit about architectural history; after weeks of reading, a dozen essays and many informative lectures I now know I had barely scratched the surface. The discipline of historic building conservation is rich in scholarship and there are almost endless resources available to those fortunate enough to develop an interest in it.
