(It is apparently the case that the market for art and architectural books is declining. Key members of staff have lost their job at that greatest of all artistic publishing houses, Yale University Press and even the British Museum and the V&A have closed their direct publishing departments, relying now on partnerships with the commercial sector. There is great scope for e-publishing and a reliance on the limitless potential of Google. But there is nothing as good as the stimulation, the stored memory, of a good book. So do keep on buying and pressing the diminishing numbers of public libraries to make available in each district at least one copy of these books.)
