The $2.81b tunnels, stations and excavation contract for Stage 2 of the Sydney Metro has been awarded to the John Holland (45%)/ CPB Contractors (45%)/ Ghella (10%) Joint Venture, the same group that was in charge of the tunnelling on the Northwest metro. The 15.5 km all underground Sydney Metro South West Stage 1 will extend the current Metro Northwest line from Chatswood, through the city centre, to Sydenham. The new line includes a 750 m twin running tunnel under Sydney Harbour.
