摘要

Small driverless nine passenger vehicles are expected to operate in Switzerland by June as part of a two year trial that will test how well the vehicles operate in traffic. A company called BestMile, launched by two graduates of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, will operate the vehicles under the Swiss PostBus company. Authorities in Switzerland say the driverless buses are not meant to replace bus drivers but rather to link places that are not currently served by public transport. On 2 November 2015 Western Australia joined the other states and territories as participants in the National Rail Safety Regulation and Investigation scheme; finalising the move to one national regulator. The avoidable cost of congestion for Australian capital cities is estimated to be around $16.5b for the 2015 financial year, having grown from about $12.8b for 2010. According to BITRE 'business-as-usual' projections of these costs of metropolitan congestion rise to around $30b by 2030, with the various modelling scenarios conducted giving aggregate 2030 results of between $27.7 and $37.3b, depending upon the chosen assumptions.
