CBD Workers were busy in the city centre in 2015 up to Christmas Eve, when work stopped to make way for the Boxing Day sales and New Year crowds. George Street, between Essex and King Streets ALTRAC Light Rail carried out utility relocation works in the northern section of George Street in the CBD, taking advantage of the summer holiday period to work over January weekends. These have involved utility investigations; modification of electrical pits and associated utility works, investigation of new stormwater drainage, road pavement works and investigative potholing. Some pits are a similar size to a studio apartment and so require substantial work.
