ContiTech has developed cold- and heat-resistant air springs - based on novel rubber compounds - for trucks and semi-trailers running in extremes of temperature. "Conventional air springs lose their elasticity at low sub-zero temperatures and can develop leaks," explains Diethelm Bauch, head of commercial vehicles at ContiTech Air Spring Systems. "With the new [cold] air spring, trucks are optimally equipped to operate in temperatures as low as -55℃," he says, adding that the new bags are badged with the snowflake symbol.
