摘要

The multidisciplinary field of transport engineering is becoming increasingly important in delivering projects of all sizes. As project teams strive to incorporate elements of sustainability, safety, efficiency and flexibility into the different project phases, transport engineers need the right training to develop wide-ranging expertise. Increasingly, there is a need to not only have safe and technically sound engineering outcomes, but the added importance of sustainable solutions for both urban and rural environments. This paper provides the transport engineering fraternity with the opportunity to discuss pertinent issues within the profession. The paper discusses transport engineering, issues, professional development competencies, resourcing, challenges, interaction of factors and tips for the future transport engineer.
