The "Alternative Transport Energies Conference - Another STEP closer to a sustainable future" was held in Perth on 10-13 September 2006.rnThe conference gave on expose on the alternative strategies for reducing oil dependence, and highlighted the range of different and often complementary sources of energy that are available to the transport sector.rnThe conference was organised by the WA government and was attended by about 200 mostly international delegates.rnThe keynote speaker was Dr Alan Lloyd, president of the International Council on Clean Transportation. He spoke specifically on California's experience under the direction of Governor Schwarzenegger with alternative fuels, advanced technologies, air pollution and climate change. He also spoke on international directions with alternative fuels and low emission vehicles.
