摘要

Peter was a leading light of the Lancashire Centre and recruited many bus people into membership in the late 1960s. He was the founder Chairman of North East Centre in 1974 and was National Chairman in 1977/8. His conference at Gosforth Park Hotel was a great success, and a lot of hard work by all involved, considering the centre was only four years old.rnAs part of the conference an exhibition was also held at Newcastle Racecourse when a large number of exhibitors attended with many visitors on the Saturday to see their own version of the Commercial Motor Show. This was also to prove to be a financial success for the Institute. An interesting aspect of the Show was the appearance of a Scandinavian articulated bus which members were allowed to drive on the private roadway. This was an example of Peter's influence.
