UK-based Unison, which specialises in tube manipulation products, has developed a new optimising CNC saw software package for tube diameters of 40-220mm. The saw automatically measures the tube to within ± 0.5mm, then scans the work list supplied by the Work Preparation System (WPS) for the best combination of tubes to produce minimal wastage. Since the tube is under constant control, any combination of different lengths within a tube length is possible and accuracy is better than ±0.2mm.
