Mitsubishi Materials has awarded Loma Machine Mfg Co a contract to manufacture a high-production, fully continuous casting machine for MCC Copper Tube (Thailand) Co Ltd. The new copper tube plant will increase Mitsubishi Materials of Japan's presence in Thailand. The installation of the single strand vertical caster, designed and fabricated by Loma Machine, will be part of the new integrated tube mill, which will produce a thin wall tube, primarily for the air conditioning industry in Thailand, South East Asia and China. The mill will be located in Rojana Industrial Park, Rayong Province of Thailand, and is scheduled to come on stream in April 1998, with the production of copper estimated at 12,000 tons of tubing a year.
