摘要

This paper presents a new method of foundation improvement for high embankment culverts on soft foundation; high strength exchanging-fill materials are adopted to partially replace the foundation soil, and a lattice-shaped diaphragm wall is thus formed. Based on the actual project, a field test was conducted to study the working performance of the culvert. In this project, a reinforcement bridge was also established to reduce the earth pressure on the culvert top, which was achieved by setting the load reduction ditch with compressible filler on the culvert top and placing geogrids above the ditch. Then, to further investigate the effect of foundation improvement, the numerical simulation was used to analyze the influence of the single application of foundation improvement and load reduction by reinforcement bridge on culvert settlement and its top earth pressure; the impact of relevant design parameters was also studied. The results indicate that the combined application of these two methods can not only reduce the settlement and uneven longitudinal settlement of the culvert, but also avoid stress concentration on the culvert top.
