Professor Dariush Khadje Nassiri was born in 1949 in thencity of Mashad, Iran, as the third of seven children. Henwas schooled in Mashad, and attended the University ofnMashad for his ﬁrst degree, then came to the UK in 1974nand continued his studies with a master’s degree innMedical Physics from Surrey University and with trainingnat King’s College Hospital. It was during his MSc that henbegan his work in ultrasound with a dissertation on thenﬁeld characteristics of Doppler probes, and his worknformed part of the larger project to develop the MAVISnUltrasonic Doppler imaging system from King’s.
