There have been one or two incidents this year wherenauthors have initially failed to adhere to our article sub-nmission guidelines. I would like to take this opportunitynto stress that it is of paramount importance for authors tondeclare any potential conflicts of interest regarding theirnwork, provide evidence of ethical approval where necessarynand to submit signed consent from all co-authors as confir-nmation of their participation with the paper. Failure to donthis will result in the article being rejected before review.nIn addition, where there is the possibility of identifyingnparticipants or patients in studies, consent will be requirednfrom those individuals (or parents/guardians). As editornof Ultrasound my aim is to publish work of only thenhighest standard; therefore, our rules must be adhered to,nboth for patient and for author protection and to avoid scien-ntific misconduct.
